The house rules.
Effective September 5, 2026. Nepo is a fictional office game. Joining creates a game character, not an employment relationship.
Your desk and identity
You must be at least 18 to make purchases. Use a name, title, and company link you are entitled to use. Do not impersonate another person, misrepresent an affiliation, publish private information, harass people, or link to scams or illegal content. Other participants can purchase promotions above you. You can always stop playing.
Your progress saves automatically. Username/password login supports access on other devices; we store a salted password hash. An optional recovery code also grants account access. Keep both private. Employee names, titles, company links, floor, office tier, and total in-game spend are public.
What purchases buy
A $9 promotion moves you directly above your selected colleague in the current hierarchy on your floor when payment is fulfilled. There is no guaranteed tenure: later promotions can change your rank and reporting relationships. You receive no control over another person, their account, or their business.
Virtual office tiers cost $19, $49, and $99 in total, with the price of your current tier credited toward the next upgrade. Offices are cosmetic and have no influence on rank. Purchases are one-time payments, not subscriptions.
No purchase provides real employment, wages, equity, investment returns, or a guaranteed number of visitors, impressions, or leads. “Forever” for the free starter desk means no recurring rental fee while the service operates, not a guarantee that the service operates indefinitely.
Company sponsorships and playful interactions
A sponsorship buys the named banner or office item on the selected floor for up to seven days from fulfillment, or until another company steals it by paying $5 more. Empty wall banners start at $15 and items at $9; the current takeover price is shown before checkout. Each takeover replaces the previous brand and starts a fresh seven-day timer. When a placement expires, its price resets. No minimum display time is guaranteed. A subsequent takeover does not entitle the previous sponsor to a refund. Company names, links, and optional logos are public; you must have the rights to use them. Placements are floor-specific, with no guaranteed traffic. If the placement changes while your checkout is in progress, we refund an incompatible purchase.
Walking, waves, cartoon slaps, and company sticky notes are free, cosmetic features. Notes and gestures are temporary and do not change purchases or ranks. You can turn off interactions in your employee profile. Do not use them to harass others.
Payment and refunds
Stripe processes card payments. Benefits apply only after a verified successful payment. If an action becomes impossible or an upgrade is redundant before it is applied, we initiate a full refund automatically. Refund timing depends on your bank. A later promotion by another player does not itself entitle you to a refund for a successfully delivered promotion. Statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
For purchase support, use Contact HR to send a private request to the operator. Keep your payment receipt and checkout reference. Service outages do not authorize duplicate purchases.
Keeping the office functional
Abusive accounts and unlawful content may be removed. Do not automate signups, manipulate payments, attack the service, or access another employee’s account. We may change the game, but changes will not retroactively remove a paid tier without a remedy. There is no promise of uninterrupted service.
